As the city of Milwaukee grew throughout the past century so did the local community. As the community grew and it's needs changed, this location has been home to various occupants and businesses including; farms, auto garages, strip malls, churches, landfills and even a minor mining operation. When the current town center was constructed, the city of Glendale worked with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to contain the effect of some of the former buildings and redevelop the site that the center is there today. The collection of images to the left illustrate not only the growth of the community but how this place area destination.

Architecture can tell the history of an area and reflect the past while time moves forward. However at times it is preferable to not tell about the history of the location. Now one of the most prominent shopping centers in the greater Milwaukee area, only a century ago the area was little more than farm fields and homes.
After a extensive redevelopment of the site in 2002, Bayshore Town Center has become a local destination for most of most of Milwaukee as well as the neighboring communities of Glendale and Whitefish Bay. A local resident summarized the former mall as "a place that you went to out of convenience" while the new town center is " a place you want to go to, weather for shopping, going to a restaurant, or one of the community events being hosted there". |

Of the research conducted, we interviewed individuals who either had a connection to the area or were enjoying the area. While each interview was different, a reoccurring theme that arose was how the town center is a center for the community rather than just a shopping mall. Due to some technical issues, currently only one interview is available to be listened to below.
